Slogan

The slogan for my project is "Nuclear Combustion leads to destruction". I used the word combustion because it has to do with how nuclear energy is created and I wanted to explain that the production of Nuclear Energy damages the environment.

Toxic: acting as or having the effect of a poison. poisonous: a toxic drug
Nuclear Power: power derived from nuclear energy
Environmental Impact: Possible adverse effects caused by a development, industrial, or infrastructural project or by the release of a substance in the environment.

Radiation Poisoning: a systemic condition caused by excessive exposure to radiation, as from a nuclear explosion or accident; also called radiation sickness.
Contamination: the act of contaminating or the state of being contaminated.
Climate Change: any long-term significant change in the weather patterns of an area; also used figuratively Example: Climate change can be natural or caused by changes people have made to the land or atmosphere.
Accidents: an undesirable or unfortunate happening that occurs unintentionally and usually results in harm, injury, damage, or loss; casualty; mishap
Crisis: a condition of instability or danger, as in social, economic, political, or international affairs, leading to a decisive change.


Dangerous: full of danger or risk; causing danger; perilous; risky; hazardous; unsafe.

Life-changing: altering a person's life or circumstances in a substantial way

Nuclear Energy Research

Was looking for some research on nuclear energy since were starting our new project and decided that I should try to get a very good understanding of what exactly nuclear energy is. So I checked out wikipedia's page on nuclear energy. They have a very good description about it and even give you some background knowledge on its history. It was interesting reading about some serious nuclear and radiation accidents that have occured such as the Chernobyl disaster (1986), Fukushima I nuclear accidents (2011), and the Three Mile Island accident (1979). After reading about these accidents I came to the conclusion that I am against nuclear energy because of its dangers. I decided on that, right after reading about the Chernobyl disaster. It was an explosion and fire that released large quantities of radioactive contamination into the atmosphere, which spread over much of Western Russia and Europe. It is considered the worst nuclear power plant accident in history, and is one of only two classified as a level 7 event on the International Nuclear Event Scale (the other being the Fukushima I nuclear incident, which is considered far less serious and has caused no direct deaths). It is really sad to know that In the aftermath of the accident, 237 people suffered from acute radiation sickness, of whom 31 died within the first three months. Most of these were fire and rescue workers trying to bring the accident under control, who were not fully aware of how dangerous exposure to the radiation in the smoke was. Whereas, in the World Health Organization's 2006 report of the Chernobyl Forum expert group on the 237 emergency workers who were diagnosed with ARS, ARS was identified as the cause of death for 28 of these people within the first few months after the disaster. There were no further deaths identified, in the general population affected by the disaster, as being caused by ARS. Of the 72,000 Russian Emergency Workers being studied, 216 non-cancer deaths are attributed to the disaster, between 1991 and 1998. The latency period for solid cancers caused by excess radiation exposure is 10 or more years; thus at the time of the WHO report being undertaken, the rates of solid cancer deaths were no greater than the general population. Some 135,000 people were evacuated from the area, including 50,000 from Pripyat.

Packaging Designs

Here are some quick packaging designs were working on. Again we've used the patterns that are on our vending machines.

Buttons and or Stickers

Here are some examples of button and or sticker designs that I made. These feature the patterns that I used in the vending machines. When I get a chance to fix them, these buttons will have our company logo or slogan on them and will not have the smiling popsicle anymore since we have gotten rid of it now.

Logos

In going with the whole carnival type vibe, we came up with a logo that is similar to the type used in comic books. It fits right in with our whole theme of bright colors and patterns. These are different examples of color variations because we won't just stick to one in our designs.

In keeping up with the whole carnival theme, I have started working on more vending machine and poster designs. Here is a little sample. Keep in mind, these things are unfinished and still need more work. I am trying to work with colors to make things more fun and cheerful looking for children.

Ad Campaign Designs

So our group is busy focusing on what we are doing for our ad campaign. So far we have made a facebook page, are working on stickers, posters, and packaging designs. Here is just a sample rough of one of our sticker designs.

Ted Talks: Sir Richard Branson

As I was going through Ted Talks, my attention was caught by a talk that Sir Richard Branson did. It was very interesting to hear him talk. He owns the companies Virgin Mobile, Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Records and many more with Virgin in the name. He says that he learned early on “if you can run one company, you can really run any company “. He also says "Companys are about finding the right people, inspiring those people, and drawing out the best in people." Besides talking about his companies, he also told funny stories and he showed a video of his latest project with Virgin Galactic which is building a spacecraft for people to go up to space. He not only is a successful entrepeneur, and humanitarian, he is also an adventurer. He has broken several world records such as ballooning across the Atlantic.

Here is my second attempt at a  redesigned ad for the bad Bioré ad I chose.

Redesigned Bad Ad#1

This is one of my redesigned ads for the bad ad that I found for Bioré. It was very difficult for me to redesign this ad because I was trying to maintain the look and feel of a facebook page but at the same time, I was trying not to have all of the information too compressed. I tried to create open space and have the information in a hierarchical manner but it was very hard because there was too much information to work with. Some of this information wasn't even necessary because it just repeated itself. The way that I was able to maintain a hierchical structure was by using scale and proportion on the bits of information that I thought were most and least important. I also tried to use the same colors all around to provide unity so that it could all fit in nicely.
